As a former teacher and reporter, I’m excited to share inspiring stories from history with audiences of all ages. I also love to share about the writing process with writer’s groups and students.

Research can be exciting. I love it because you might find something which surprises you! That’s exactly what happened to me when I first heard about the Army’s all-Japanese American unit who fought during World War II. I never knew that these brave soldiers served our country, and this information has since informed a lot of my writing and research.

Someone asked me if I were to write a book for the people of Spokane, what would I write, and I immediately knew I wanted to write about Bing Crosby. I knew he was from Spokane, and knew he was famous, but I didn’t really know just how famous he was until I started researching his life! He started out like many other kids his age, but by working hard, following his dreams, and listening to the good advice of others, Bing became the most recorded voice in history. So, his story isn’t just for Spokane, it’s really an American story! And even though we mainly think of him as the star of the movie, “White Christmas”, I discovered that he did many other wonderful things, which I share in my book.

I’d love to come visit with your class or organization! In-person meetings are preferred if you are in the greater Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, or we can plan a virtual visit if you are further away. Contact me today!
